Larger and better team for better services to clients – Luatviet, Advocates and Solicitors preparing for opportunities upon VietNam entry into WTO.
As part of our commitment to serve clients better, LuatViet has enlarged its own team with the significant addition of a new partner and a senior counsel whose impressive background and experience shall benefit both our existing and prospective clients.
Le Hong Phuc, new partner
Le Hong Phuc, a member of Hanoi bar has joined our LuatViet Hanoi office bringing aboard ten years of experience in advising on a variety of legal matters in relation to foreign, local investment and commercial activities in Vietnam. Phuc has worked for a number of foreign law firms including Coopers & Lybrand, Lafarge Flécheux Campana Le Blevennec (LBLF Vietnam, Ngo, Miguérès & Associés (now Flécheux, Ngo & Associés), and Invest Pro, a leading local firm. Phuc also worked for UK insurer (Prudential) as an in-house counsel in the field of agency compliance, general regulatory and corporate compliance. In addition to his substantial working experience with major law firms and multinational corporations, Phuc recently successfully completed his LL.M course in Belgium under a scholarship programme awarded by the Belgian government recently. This gives him broader exposure to the practice of law in Vietnam.
Clients of LuatViet will indeed benefit from Phuc’s diversified background and experience. At LuatViet, Phuc lends supports to LuatViet’s clients on corporate compliance matters and taxation law and insurance law. The firm disclosed his strategy to further develop the market in the north of Vietnam by appointing Phuc as a branch manager of Hanoi Office to handle the firm’s clients in North Vietnam.
John Yue, senior counsel
Together with Partner Phuc, LuatViet has recently welcomed John Yue, a Chinese American lawyer, who is licensed to practice in California, the USA. Mr. Yue first became involved in Vietnam in 1999 when he represented a U.S. company in forming a high-tech joint venture in Vietnam. Mr. Yue has over 10 years experience in matters involving international business transactions, business organizations, corporate reorganizations, intellectual property protection, offshore business formation, and U.S. business immigrations. He worked primarily with high technology companies from Asian countries including Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Mr. Canh Tran, the Managing Partner of LuatViet indicates “John brings a considerable reputation and specialized skills to our team and will help the firm develop its growing presence in the cross-border business arena. We are delighted that he has chosen to join us”.
John’s presence at LuatViet has increased the number of lawyers of the firm who are licensed to practice in foreign jurisdictions. Together with partners Trinh Nguyen and Huck Nguyen of LuatViet who are respectively licensed to practice law in Australia and the USA, Mr. Yue shall ensure that international clients of the firm shall be well taken care of by an experienced and dedicated team of lawyers who understands the international practice and is familiar with the laws of Vietnam.
Other associates
LuatViet continues to seek local talents for its professional team by recruiting qualified and dedicated associates. After recruitment training is also viewed as an essential element of success by our newly recruited associates. The Firm provides regular training in law and practice management so that our clients will benefit from receiving international standard legal assistance.
We added the following associates to our team of professional lawyers. These associates, some of whom have recently returned to Vietnam from their overseas legal studies, have brought a fresh spirit to LuatViet team.
Nguyen Thi Hien, Senior Associate
In its effort to identify the local talents in legal profession, LuatViet has made Nguyen Thi Hien, a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar with over 7 years experience from one of the leading local firms a senior associate recently. Ms. Hien brought with her substantial expertise in labour and employment laws. In her previous work, Ms. Hien was involved in providing legal assistance in resolving labour strikes issues at foreign invested enterprises, drafting labour agreements for local and international corporate clients. In addition to her practice in labour and employment area, Ms. Hien has developed her practice niche in corporate compliance. By having Ms. Hien as its Senior Associate, LuatViet’s clients will benefit from the services provided by LuatViet’s employment law team.
Together with Hien in HCM office, LuatViet has recently recruited two associates, Mr Do Min Tuan and Mr. Pham Quang Hung. This is a good combination of a lawyer team with Tuan’s hands- on experience in corporate compliance and intellectual property and Hung’s 6 years experience in litigation.
Do Minh Tuan, Associate
Mr. Tuan was a legal researcher for three (3) years with the Institute of American Studies of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam. While working at the political and legal affairs department of Institute of American Studies, Tuan’s research was focused on comparative laws of Vietnam and the United States. Tuan’s knowledge on the comparative laws and his background as a researcher of American laws will benefit LuatViet’s clients from the United States. Tuan has been a member of the Hanoi Bar Association for years.
Pham Quang Hung, Associate
Mr. Hung’s worked for a transportation and commercial company as an in-house counsel prior to joining LuatViet. While working at his prior position, Mr. Hung gained knowledge and experience in resolving issues related to customer’s claims and court procedures. Such knowledge and experience will enable Mr. Hung to provide assistance to LuatViet’s corporate clients.
Our commitment to recruiting qualified lawyers also resulted in having the following talents who returned to Vietnam after successful studies overseas, joining LuatViet.
Tran Ngoc Linh, Associate
Ms. Tran Ngoc Linh joined LuatViet after practicing intellectual property laws at a leading local law in Vietnam. Ms. Linh successfully completed her LL.M course in Japan under a program sponsored by the Japanese Government. Ms. Linh is eager to apply her knowledge to serve LuatViet’s clients. Ms. Linh’s knowledge and experience in intellectual property laws shall help secure and protect the values rights of LuatViet’s clients as such intellectual property rights are becoming increasingly important issue in Vietnam.
Le Minh Phieu, Associate
Mr. Le Minh Phieu, a Ph.D candidate at the Montesquieu University in France has a broad array of experiences related to international, French, Vietnamese trade and investment laws. LuatViet is prepared for the opportunities and challenges faced by its clients, both international and domestic as Vietnam is becoming a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Mr. Phieu’s research focuses on the WTO regulations and operations. “As a lawyer specialising in international trade, I would love to join a firm where I can work together with a solution-oriented team of lawyers on international trade transactions,” said Phieu. “I envisage exciting opportunities for young qualified Vietnamese lawyers like Phieu and Linh upon Vietnam’s entry of WTO.
Our ultimate goal is to build up a good team of lawyers who have diversified backsground but share a common goal of being Vietnamese lawyers with international standards so as to serve our international and national clients better and better,” said Trinh Nguyen, a partner of LuatViet.
The addition of our new tem members will enable LuatViet to effectively advise its clients on complex legal issues in international transactions after Vietnam enters into the WTO.
